University of Nizwa Explores Partnership with Russia’s National Research University – Higher School of Economics

The University of Nizwa hosted a delegation from the National Research University – Higher School of Economics (HSE), Saint Petersburg, Russia, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. The meeting, led by Prof. Ahmed bin Khalfan Al-Rawahi, Chancellor of the University of Nizwa, and Dr. Anna Tishkaya, President of HSE, focused on potential collaborations in academic programs, research initiatives, and student exchange opportunities.

Prof. Al-Rawahi highlighted the University of Nizwa’s mission to equip students with skills aligned with market needs and emphasized the university's efforts in research, community service, and sustainability. He also presented the university’s achievements in academic rankings and its partnerships with international institutions.

Dr. Tishkaya shared HSE’s academic strengths and research accomplishments, emphasizing its commitment to innovation and global collaboration.The two sides discussed ways to enhance collaboration, particularly through student and faculty exchanges and leveraging the Diwan Al-Dhad Institute for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers.

This visit builds on a cooperation agreement signed earlier this year during Prof. Al-Rawahi’s visit to Russia, aimed at strengthening academic ties.The delegation also toured the University of Nizwa’s facilities, including its new campus, to explore areas of mutual interest.

This collaboration aims to foster academic innovation and cultural exchange, creating opportunities for students and faculty to thrive in a global academic environment.
