In this issue, Ishraqah is delving into the history of the University's establishment and highlighting the key partners who contributed to its success. The University of Wisconsin and the University of Nizwa have had a long-lasting relationship that dates back to July 2021 when Prof. Abdulaziz AlKindi, the current Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and the Secretary General of the Board of Trustees of the University of Nizwa, visited the University of Wisconsin and met with Chancellor John Kerrigan, University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh and discussed the Feasibility Study and Comprehensive Plan for the establishment of the University of Nizwa. Chancellor John Kerrigan established a credible assessment panel, which he chaired himself.

The evaluation was conducted through the Fulbright Foundation. The Feasibility Study and Comprehensive Plan were conducted by academics, primarily from Sultan Qaboos University, and chaired by Chancellor Ahmed Al Rawahi. Professor Abdulaziz AlKindi acted as the convener.

The link with the University of Wisconsin was facilitated by Prof. Ibrahim Mohammed, the Senior Fulbright Scholar at that time, who played a key role in establishing contact with Chancellor John Kerrigan.

The University of Wisconsin and the University of Nizwa have maintained a thriving relationship that a series of expeditions for students and faculty members have strengthened. During these visits, they witnessed both universities' growth and achievements and explored the possibility of future collaborations.

Recently, Prof. James C. Schmidt, the current Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, visited Oman for the third time. Isharaqah interviewed him during his visit. Being eager to learn more about Oman, Chancellor Schmidt expressed his profound fascination with Oman, which prompted him to explore deeper into the country's rich culture and history. Six years after his last visit to the University of Nizwa, Chancellor Schmidt stated that he had an even greater appreciation for the University's exceptional leadership vision and prudence. Despite the passage of time, he continues to be impressed by the University's higher administration commitment to excellence and their insightful decision-making capabilities.

Chancellor Schmidt expressed his thoughts on the tour of the new campus he had taken with Prof. Ahmed Al Rawahi, the Chancellor of the University of Nizwa, and Prof. Abdulaziz AlKindi, the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs. He was amazed by the physical manifestation of the new campus, which was once just a dream, and was impressed by the attention to detail throughout the facility. Chancellor Schmidt was particularly struck by the fact that he had witnessed the compilation of the facility from the beginning and was excited to see it gradually take shape before his eyes.

Chancellor Schmidt's visit gave him a better understanding of the University's research potential, and he was highly impressed with the results of the research conducted at the institution. He commended the University for its continued commitment to fostering partnerships with other academic institutions to enhance research capabilities and outcomes. The productive visit had promising developments for both institutions, further strengthening their professional relationship. Chancellor Schmidt's feedback opened up new opportunities for collaboration between the two institutions, including exchanging students and faculty. The potential for further cooperation in the future is exciting news. The dedication of both universities to excellence and fostering partnerships is commendable in anticipation of continued success in the years to come.
