Nizwa University hosts Entrepreneurship Week and Student Products Exhibition

Nizwa University has inaugurated the Entrepreneurship Week as part of its cultural season activities. The event aimed to instil an entrepreneurial culture and encourage students to work in the private sector by equipping them with effective communication skills, and harnessing their potential energies and creative ideas.

The Student Products and Companies Exhibition accompanied the Entrepreneurship Week, with participants from entrepreneurs, supporting institutions, and sponsors of the 2024 Global Entrepreneurship Week. The exhibition provided an opportunity to learn about student projects and creative ideas, and served as a chance to meet with officials and stakeholders in this field.

The exhibition witnessed the participation of two startup student companies that will participate in the Anjiz Oman competition this year. Injaz Oman's Student Company Programme aims to enable university students and private colleges to establish real projects after receiving qualifications and training from a group of qualified experts in the field of entrepreneurship during their participation in the programme.

One of the participating startups, "Creative of Oman (COO)," is an emerging student company participating in the Achievement Oman competition. COO aims to provide a smart battery that suits everyone with its unique features to be the most widely accepted battery by the target groups, such as car owners and car manufacturing companies. Their battery also features a 'lock' or 'shut-off' function, which automatically takes care of car lights, shutting them off a few minutes before the battery loses its power.

Haitham Al-Kalbani, a participant of the programme, proposed an application for an electronic auction that facilitates users to efficiently and excitingly display and purchase assets. The application features an easy-to-use interface and benefits that ensure the rights of both the seller and the buyer, such as an auditing and monitoring committee and an official document after each deal.

Shahd Al-Amri, another participant, expressed their desire to adopt the idea of the electronic auction application to keep pace with the digital transformation and to promote auction culture in Oman. They saw that integrating the commercial aspect with technology represents an exciting challenge and a fruitful field.

Rahma Al-Sa'idi, a member of the COO team, shared the challenges they faced in preparing an application that combines smoothness and security in electronic auctions. In this context, they had to overcome the challenges of integrating technologies and providing an efficient and safe user experience. They also faced challenges in marketing their idea, as they had to convince the public of the importance and attractiveness of digital transformation in electronic auctions.

Overall, the Entrepreneurship Week and Student Products Exhibition provided a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative ideas and connect with potential investors and supporters. With the support of institutions and experts in the field, students can take their first steps towards establishing their own businesses and contributing to the development of Oman's economy.
