College of Economics, Management and Information Systems (CEMIS)Open Day
Nizwa, Oman - The University of Nizwa's College of Economics, Management, and Information Systems (CEMIS) successfully hosted its 12th Annual Open Day on February 25th, 2024, at the Al Shahba Auditorium of the University. The event saw enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty members, showcasing their talents through various extracurricular activities.
The inaugural session was patronized by H.E. Sheikh Younis bin Ali Al Manthri, Member of the Shura Council and Representative of Izki, as the Chief Guest. Dr Salem Al Abri, the Dean of CEMIS and the Chair for the Open Day highlighted the event's significance in his welcome address and emphasised its role as a platform for students to showcase their talents.
The open day was accompanied by an exhibition of business projects and final-year projects of the CEMIS students. in which His Excellency, expressed his admiration for the students' work. He said, "It is impressive what we have seen today in this exhibition of students' business projects. The thoughts and aspirations of these young people are truly inspiring, and I believe that they have the potential to make a real difference in the world of business."
The two-day event included various activities such as the unveiling of the 7th edition of the college's news magazine, 'Voice of CEMIS,' a quiz competition, cultural performances, and presentations of business plan posters and graduation project posters evaluated by a panel of judges representing industry, academia, and administration.
The Information Systems Group emerged as the winner of the business plan poster presentation, clinching the top position for 2024. The Management, Economics, and Accounting Groups secured 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places, respectively. The valedictory session, overseen by Dean Dr. Salem Al Abri, involved the distribution of prizes, gifts, and mementoes among the winners and participants of the Open Day activities.
Dr. Swadhin Mondal, HoD of the Economics Department, conveyed the vote of thanks, bringing the event to a close. The Annual Open Day was a grand success, providing students with a platform to showcase their talents and skills, and encouraging them to reach new heights.
