University of Nizwa discusses potential cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development and Oman LNG Company 

The University of Nizwa received a  delegation from the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Oman Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)Company to discuss possible cooperation in education and student training programmes. 

Prof. Ahmed Al Rawahi, University Chancellor,  welcomed the delegates on campus and mentioned that the University tends to extend its cooperation relation to empower youth and achieve Oman’s Vision 2040, as he believes it is the responsibility of all sectors and by all means. In his talk, Prof. Al Rawahi pointed out that the University is cooperating with more than 30 academic institutions and 60 research institutions internationally. The chancellor emphasised that the University is a non-profit organisation focused on providing public benefit and discussed its legal representation.  

The chancellor indicated that the University aid the students classified as having a limited income and those who face financial issues to complete and pursue their studies through the Ma’ain fund which has spent more than 43 million Omani rials until the present time. The University reached the Omanisation rate of 65% in administrative and academic roles, including establishing centres and units supporting the community, such as providing analytical and research services and establishing laboratories. 

Dr Ahmed Al-Kharusi, Associate Dean of the School of Rehabilitation and Allied Health Sciences, presented the college’s programs and new specializations. The medical rehabilitation programs offered last year are health humanitarian specialisations, with a career ladder and postgraduate studies available. The college seeks academic and training cooperation in these fields, hoping for cooperation to enable students to receive scholarships and training on the latest advancements.

The delegates were introduced to laboratories of the College of Health Sciences and were briefed on The University’s capabilities of student training. The LNG delegate met with the scholarship students funded by the company and discussed the difficulties faced and the possibility of enhancement.
