Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority and University of Nizwa Sign Cooperation Programme to Boost Entrepreneurship in Oman

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority has signed a cooperation programme with the University of Nizwa to manage and operate incubators and business centres. The agreement was signed by Prof. Ahmed Al Rawahi, the University Chancellor, and Abdulaziz Saeed Al Raisi, Vice President of the Authority, at the Authority’s main building in Muscat.

The aim of the agreement is to increase the contribution of the entrepreneurship sector to the gross domestic product and to support the government's efforts to advance small and medium enterprises in Oman. Prof. Al Rawahi emphasized the importance of the agreement and its role in achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040. The University of Nizwa is committed to sponsoring the entrepreneurship sector, which is represented by the Entrepreneurship Center and business incubators, as part of its priorities and strategies.

Al Raisi praised the University's interest in establishing an environment for business incubators through the Entrepreneurship Center. He also mentioned that the Authority has associated with the University in several other successful projects, and this agreement confirms their support for these efforts and confidence in the University's interest in student projects.

The cooperation between the Authority and the University of Nizwa includes spreading the role of Entrepreneurship to students and graduates of the University and other higher education institutions in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. This will be done by utilizing the expertise of the University's specialized human resources, including academics and lecturers in entrepreneurial fields, to provide training workshops, consultations, and guidance.
