The University Signs an Agreement to Grant Scholarships

The University of Nizwa signed an agreement with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation which committed the privet academic institution to contribute with an annual 10% scholarship granted to the Ministry. The 9 million Omani rial agreement was signed by 23 private academic institutions including the University. Such an agreement regulates the scholarships and makes it easier to approach the greater good.
The agreement was signed as a side event of the symposium “The play part of Private Higher Education Institutions in Community Service and the Transition to a knowledge society”. The agreement stated that full scholarships are exempted from registration and study fees, placement tests, course equivalency and all course tools, books and supplies, and the student access to other educational services. The agreement granted the Ministry the right to scholarship distribution in different majors.
The 10% scholarships are for three higher diploma degrees and one bachelor's degree. Universities are committed to the 10% contribution but are not limited to it. The universities could contribute with more scholarships if they wish to extend their contribution.
Prof. Ahmed Al Rawahi, the University Chancellor, signed the agreement on behalf of the University, while Prof. Rahma Al Mahrooqi, the Minister of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry.
The agreement serves Oman’s 2040 vision of receiving a convenient higher education to a greater number of Omanis and helps build an educational community empowered by knowledge, and it sustains the essential role private universities share in spreading education.
