The University of Nizwa Receives 50 Exchange Program Students from Arab Universities

The University of Nizwa received 50 students from different Arab countries and universities as exchange students for a training programme, while the University sent 21 students to different Arab countries' universities. Dr Saleh Al Azri, Dean of Students Affairs and Community Service, received the students in Al Shahaba Hall, the University's initial campus. 

 

 

 

Arab Council for Training and Student Creativity established the exchange training programme in 2008. The exchange training programme is a cooperation between the members of the Arab Council for Training and Student Creativity, of which the University has been a member for the past ten years. 

 

Dr Al Azri welcomed the students to Oman, which he described as their second home, and introduced the background history of the University establishment, focal aims, and the University's recent accomplishments and scientific research. 

 

The University initiatives were the centre of Dr Al Azri's talk, in which he introduced the Student Supporting Fund and Student Success System. As well as he gave a brief of the University's four colleges, institutions, centres, and departments of the students' concern. 

 

Dr Al Azri mentioned the International Students Office and said, “ The University is the first University in the Sultanate of Oman to found an office that concerns international students' affairs. The University treats Omanis and non-Omanis equally in the study fees and scholarships granted from the University”. 

 

The students received are from six Arab countries, 26 of them are from Egyptian universities, Misr University for Science and Technology, Fayoum University, and Tanta University. Three students are from Al-Zaytoonah University, Jordan. Eight students are from Palestinian universities, Palestine Polytechnic, Palestine Technical University “Khadoori”, Arab American University, Al-Quds Open University, and An-Najah University. Seven students from Iraq Universities, Al-Maarif University College, and Erbil Technical University. Four students from the Republic of Yemen, Hadramout University, and Al-Sharqiya University. 

 

The University is keen to empower youth with skills more than the ones acquired in classrooms. Since 2004 the University believed in the Importance of learning about new cultures and being exposed to diversity as it plays an essential role in creating community future leaders.
