Dr. Ali Jamal Arafeh was born on 28 October 1967in Jordan. He finished school in Amman in 1985. He was interested in languages in general and English and German in particular. He studied his Bachelor degree in English language in the University of Jordan and graduated in 1989. He worked as a teacher of English in Jordan for three years. In 1992 he studied for a Master in English linguistics in the University of Jordan and graduated in 1995. 

He went after that to the UAE and worked as a lecturer of English language, English for specific purposes and TOEFL in Dubai Medical College and Dubai Pharmacy College from 1995 till 1998. 

After that he worked in the Ministry of Education in Dubai from 1995 till 2006. Then, he went back to Jordan to continue his Ph.D. in Amman Arab University in Applied Linguistics. In 2008 Dr. Ali completed his Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics/English. 

In 2008 Dr. Ali went to Oman and worked at Alzahra College for Women in Muscat as Assistant professor of English linguistics He taught most courses of linguistics including Sociolinguistics, Psycholinguists, Applied Linguistics, Writing, Technical Writing, Second Language Acquisition, History of the English Language and many others. 

In 2009, Dr. joined the University of Nizwa where he worked in the Department of Foreign Languages. During his work at UoN, he had the following research and administration activities:
