University of Nizwa's International Horizons Program: Fostering Global Education and Cultural Exchange
The University of Nizwa has welcomed nine international students this semester as part of its “International Horizons Program”. This initiative aims to foster international educational collaboration and cultural exchange by hosting students from the University of Brunei Darussalam and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland.
Out of nine students participating in the program, eight are from the University of Brunei Darussalam, and one is from Adam Mickiewicz University. These students have diverse academic backgrounds and will be studying in the four main colleges of the University of Nizwa: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Health Sciences, the College of Economics, Management, and Information Systems, and the College of Engineering and Architecture.
The exchange program is a result of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Nizwa and the participating institutions. Its purpose is to enable international students to take courses in English related to their specific fields of study. Additionally, international students who demonstrate sufficient proficiency in Arabic through a specialized interview may opt to take some courses in Arabic.
The "International Horizons" program also provides reciprocal exchange opportunities for University of Nizwa students, allowing them to study abroad for one or two semesters, based on agreements between universities. This program not only enhances academic development but also promotes personal and professional growth by exposing students to different cultures and educational environments.
It is important to note that the student exchange program operates on a fee-waiver basis, with both the host and sending universities agreeing to waive tuition fees for participating students, thereby facilitating the exchange of knowledge and cultural understanding between institutions.
This initiative underscores the University of Nizwa's commitment to fostering strong international partnerships and offering its students global learning opportunities that enhance their academic and personal skills.
