The University of Nizwa Welcomes Over 1,100 Postgraduate and Double-Major Students at Orientation Day
The University of Nizwa recently inaugurated its orientation day, welcoming 1,116 registered postgraduate and double-major students. The orientation program aimed to familiarise students with the university's services, registration and payment systems, and to address any questions they might have.
The event featured meetings with key University officials, including representatives from the Deanship of Registration and Records, the Deanship of Student Affairs, the Information Systems Center, the Financial Affairs Department, and the Media and Marketing Department.
In his welcoming speech, Dr. Mohammed Al Sibani, the Registrar, highlighted the university's continued success, stating, “For the seventh consecutive time, the University has ranked second nationally in the QS ranking, following Sultan Qaboos University, and remains the top private university in Oman. This achievement underscores our commitment to providing the highest quality education for our students.”
Dr. Al Sibani further emphasized the University’s dedication to curriculum innovation, noting that, “The University takes great care in regularly updating study plans every five to six years to ensure they meet the evolving needs of our students and the global landscape.”
Addressing the postgraduate students, he remarked on the importance of academic integrity, especially in research and publications, urging students to uphold the highest standards in their academic work.
The orientation day also featured an introduction by Dr. Saleh Al Azri, the Dean of Student Affairs, who outlined the services provided by the Deanship throughout the students’ academic journey. The Financial Affairs Department presented on managing student financial profiles and maximizing available resources.
This year’s program included a new addition from the Media and Marketing Department, which presented the services it offers and encouraged student participation in the university’s publication, Ishraqah. The event concluded with a detailed presentation on the registration process, delivered by Aflah Al Sarhani, the Director of Registration.
