Maeen Endowment Foundation takes part in Oman Waqf Conference on economic diversification
Maeen Private Endowment Foundation took part in the second Oman Waqf Conference, held under the theme “Waqf and the Promotion of Economic Diversification”, which was organised by Bousher Endowment Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs on 9 December 2025.
The foundation was represented at the conference by Ahmed bin Hilal Al Abri, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maeen Private Endowment Foundation, and Ahmed bin Saif Al Kindi, a board member. They highlighted the importance of participating in such conferences and their role in strengthening the foundation’s presence at key national and international events.
The conference was opened under the patronage of Sayyid Taimur bin Asaad Al Said, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Oman, and brought together specialists, experts and stakeholders in the field of endowments from Gulf Cooperation Council countries as well as the wider Arab and Islamic world. Discussions focused on the strategic role of waqf as an economic driver supporting diversification policies and sustainable development, alongside the presentation of innovative investment models aimed at enhancing financial sustainability.
Maeen Foundation’s participation provided an opportunity to highlight its role, objectives and programmes, and to build partnerships with endowment institutions and relevant stakeholders. Despite its recent establishment, the foundation has implemented a number of initiatives aimed at supporting students and advancing their educational pathways, reinforcing its growing institutional presence and developmental role in line with Oman’s sustainable development goals.
Held over two days, the conference featured four main thematic sessions. These explored the role of waqf as a strategic tool in economic diversification policies, examined innovative endowment investment models, and discussed modern financial instruments, including digital technologies and blockchain applications. The sessions also addressed the role of endowments in empowering entrepreneurship and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises through dedicated waqf funding and partnerships with business incubators and accelerators.
