University of Nizwa Shines Globally with 21 Scholars Listed Among Stanford’s Top 2%

The University of Nizwa has marked a new milestone in its research journey, as Stanford University announced the inclusion of 21 of its scholars in the prestigious list of the world’s top 2% of scientists for 2025. The annual classification, regarded as one of the most rigorous and respected global rankings, evaluates researchers based on the impact of their scientific work, the quality of their publications, and the number of citations they receive within international research communities.
Commenting on the achievement, Prof. Ahmed bin Suleiman Al Harrasi, Vice Chancellor for Graduate Studies, Research, and External Relations, emphasized the significance of this recognition. He explained that the Stanford list is grounded in meticulous criteria that assess the volume and influence of scientific publications as well as the extent to which each researcher’s work contributes to global knowledge. He added that the presence of twenty-one scholars from the University of Nizwa on this list is a clear reflection of the institution’s commitment to building a strong research and innovation ecosystem, an effort that has strengthened the University’s scientific standing and showcased the excellence of its academic community across diverse fields.
Prof. Al Harrasi underlined that the University will continue to advance research pathways, support innovation, and contribute to knowledge production in ways that elevate Oman’s ranking in regional and international indicators. These efforts, he noted, reinforce the capacities of Omani universities in research and innovation and align with the national aspirations of Oman Vision 2040, which aims to position Omani higher education institutions among the world’s leading universities and support sustainable, knowledge-driven development.
He further noted that this accomplishment represents the culmination of years of investment in scientific inquiry and academic excellence. It highlights the determination of the University’s researchers, whose achievements continue to enhance Oman’s reputation on the global research stage. Their inclusion in the Stanford list reinforces the University’s role as an active contributor to the scientific and innovation landscape of both Oman and the wider region.
