Nurturing Arab Creativity: The 26th Arab Student Creative Forum at the University of Nizwa
The University of Nizwa proudly hosted the 26th Arab Student Creative Forum, bringing together students from 36 Arab universities. Sixty research projects competed across four tracks: practical innovation, humanities research, modern trends in information technology, and artistic and literary creativity.
The forum was inaugurated by His Excellency Sheikh Dr Hilal Ali Zahir Al-Hinai, Vice President of the State Council, in the presence of Professor Ahmed bin Khalfan Al-Rawahi, Chancellor of the University of Nizwa, Professor Fawaz Ahmad Al-Zaghloul, Director of the Arab Council for Training and Student Creativity, university leaders, faculty, and students.
This event highlights the University of Nizwa’s leadership in fostering student creativity at the Arab level and provides a platform for cultural and intellectual exchange. It also encourages young talent to develop innovative solutions that address challenges in higher education and the wider community.
In his opening remarks, Dr Saleh Mansour Al-Azri, Dean of Student Affairs and Community Service, emphasised that the forum reflects the Arab Council’s commitment to supporting student research and innovation across the region. The theme for this year, “Opportunities and Challenges Facing Educational Institutions in Light of Technological Developments,” guided the selection of 60 research papers from nearly 200 submissions, representing nine Arab countries.
Professor Fawaz Ahmad Al-Zaghloul noted that rapid technological advancements provide both opportunities and challenges for educational institutions. Technology facilitates access to knowledge, enhances learning methods, and fosters creativity, but requires investments in educator training, digital infrastructure, and balanced integration into academic programs.
The opening ceremony featured a film showcasing the University of Nizwa’s programs and achievements, an operetta titled “Lords of the Seas”, and a poetic performance welcoming guests. The forum continued with discussion sessions, interactive panels, and student presentations, culminating in the evaluation of the participating research projects across the four tracks.
The 26th Arab Student Creative Forum underscores the university’s commitment to innovation and collaboration, preparing students to shape a brighter and more connected future for Arab education and research.
