University of Nizwa Welcomes Pakistan’s Ambassador to Explore Academic and Research Cooperation

The University of Nizwa welcomed His Excellency Mr Naveed Bukhari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Sultanate of Oman, to discuss areas of collaboration and learn more about the university’s academic and research environment. The visit featured a presentation, a discussion session, and a campus tour.

 

The meeting took place in the presence of Prof. Ahmed Al-Rawahi, the University Chancellor; Dr Waleed Al-Rajhi, Dean of Planning and Quality Management; and Mr Bader Al-Suleimani, Director of the External Relations Office. During the session, both sides exchanged views on potential areas of cooperation, with a focus on strengthening ties in higher education, research, and innovation.

 

The discussion included an overview of the university’s academic and administrative units, its commitment to community service, and its ongoing role in supporting social development. It also highlighted the university’s achievements, the progress of its new campus, and existing research collaborations with Pakistani institutions. Prof. Ahmed Al-Rawahi welcomed the ambassador’s visit and expressed the university’s openness to expanding cooperation, noting that business and technology were among the key areas of mutual interest. “We look forward to advancing joint initiatives in fields such as business and technology,” he said, emphasising the value of knowledge exchange and innovation-driven collaboration.

 

His Excellency Mr Bukhari expressed his appreciation for the Chancellor’s remarks and welcomed the spirit of partnership, noting that the proposed areas of collaboration align with Pakistan’s priorities in innovation and education. Following the meeting, the ambassador toured several of the university’s research facilities, including the Central Analytical Services Unit and the Natural and Medical Sciences Research Centre. He was briefed on the centres’ contributions to scientific advancement and their role in fostering national and international collaborations.

 

The visit underscored the growing academic relationship between Oman and Pakistan, reaffirming the University of Nizwa’s commitment to building partnerships that promote education, research, and mutual understanding.
