Huawei Delegation Visits University of Nizwa to Strengthen Academic–Industry Collaboration
The University of Nizwa welcomed a senior delegation from Huawei Tech. Investment (Oman) on Tuesday, June 10th, 2025, as part of a growing effort to forge strategic ties between academia and the technology industry.
The delegation, headed by Mr. David Xu, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Oman, and Mr. Yassin Salah Elamin, Director of the Commercial Market, was received by Prof. Ahmed Al Rawahi, University Chancellor, and Prof. Abdulaziz Al Kindi, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
The program began with a reception at the Chancellor’s Office, followed by an introductory session that included a short video presentation showcasing the University’s achievements, research culture, and development vision. The atmosphere was one of mutual respect and enthusiasm for future cooperation.
A key highlight of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions. The agreement aims to promote joint initiatives in innovation, research, and capacity building, particularly in the fields of information and communication technology.
Following the formalities, the delegation toured the University’s new campus, guided by Prof. Al Kindi, where they explored key academic and research facilities.
The visit concluded with a technical meeting involving Huawei’s specialized team and representatives from the University’s CIS Department. Discussions focused on potential collaborations in ICT infrastructure, digital transformation in education, and student training programs.
The visit underscored the University’s ongoing commitment to engaging with leading global industry partners to enhance research, innovation, and student development.
